Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
Visiting the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the home of Tottenham in North London, way back in May 2024.
Such was my disenchantment with the end of last season, that I neglected to publish my photographs from the day Burnley's inevitable promotion to the Championship was confirmed.
I won't attempt to do a full write-up this long after, but I also want to publish it now so that I do not need to contaminate next season with the previous diaster.
Arrival
Coaches cannot park especially close to the Tottenham Hotspur stadium. Our coach had to park up on the Brantwood Road industrial area, a good half mile away from the stadium, making for an interesting approach through detritus and dereliction, finally approaching a large modern bowl arena through the terraced housing on Worcester Avenue.
Food
I didn't eat at the stadium, but there is a second canteen up on the mezzanine where they stash all the best stuff. If the selection looks boring, head upstairs.
Program
I did not manage to buy a program from the ground and had to order it after the match. At the upper end of Premier League program costs - though I forget the price.
Stadium
It feels like you are entering airport departures, in style and decor. A modern bowl stadium, the atmosphere is exceptionally good helped by the steep embankment of the stands. It feels like being on top of the action, and that the home support above and around are on top of you.
If attending on a sunny day (we don't get those in Burnley), the sun will be blaring onto the away support for the entire match. Wear a cap, or similar so that you can actually see the pitch, have plenty to drink, and don't forget the suncream. I was exceptionally hot throughout, and had to take refuge in the air-conditioned concourse at half time (we don't get air con in Burnley either - mainly as it is rarely ever warm enough to require it).
