Thirty-five years ago this July, an avalanche killed forty-three climbers on a mountain called Lenin Peak. I witnessed the disaster and have lived with the memories ever since. Here’s the untold story of mountaineering’s deadliest day.


Enjoyed reading Miguel's account this morning - As somebody who once aspired to climb 8000m peaks, I've spent much time reading about many of the mountaineering disasters of the last century - but I don't think I has read about the 1990 Lenin Peak disaster previously - wikipedia.
